Pain in the Ash

A volcano is erupting in Iceland and the subsequent cloud of ash is suspending all air travel in Europe.  We kept checking our flight status online today (4:25pm connecting in Paris) and confidently set out on Plan A.  But sometime between leaving home and arriving at the airport our flight was canceled.  In fact, Air France's website tells us it has already canceled all of tomorrow's flights, and Sunday's are already booked solid.  On Monday "our" ship will be at sea, so we could fly to Istanbul Monday night provided we could get through to Air France customer service, find an open flight, get visas, and work our way through Turkey to meet our ship in Kusadasi/Ephesus halfway through our cruise.  No, thanks.  We're scrapping those plans and are seeking a new adventure, avoiding Europe.  It will be there another time; well maybe not Venice, but the rest of it.  Sure, we're a little disappointed, but also determined to have fun together no matter what we do.  I hear Pittsburgh is lovely in the spring.

Oh, Anne. I am sorry. You have such a terrific attitude. I was thinking, today, of all the people whose European trips would be ruined.

I am so impressed with your determination to enjoy whatever life hands you. Jim and I always try to remember, "It's all part of the adventure."

Whatever you end up doing, have a great time.

Hugs,
Pam
